That evening, he finds followers of a rebellious tribe loyal to Proximus Caesar, who preaches a perverted form of the original Caesar’s doctrine. They utilize Noa’s horse, which they find, to travel to his clan. When he returns, his house is on fire.
When Noa wakes up, he finds his family gone. Noa looks for Koro’s family while burying his body. He meets Raka, an orangutan, amid the wreckage of a LAX terminal, and Raka informs Noa of Caesar’s true teachings. When he sees the human prowling around, he calls her Nova and gives her some food and a blanket. They come across other people on their travels. Noa makes the decision to go and demands that Raka continue teaching. But when Proximus’ clan assaults the humans, Noa changes her mind and decides to save Nova, who then says that she is actually Mae. She informs Noa of Proximus’s clan’s destination, supposing he made his home next to an ancient human bunker.
When attempting to cross a bridge over a river on their route to the hamlet, they become stuck. Raka helps Mae during the ensuing struggle, but he drowns as a result of the current washing him away. Proximus is brought to Noa and Mae’s camp, where he meets up with Soona and his mother again. After this, Noa intends to demolish the bunker and return with his people to their homeland.
Around the dam, Noa, Mae, Soona, and Anaya plant dynamite and gunpowder. After interrupting and preparing to alert Proximus, Mae kills Trevathan. Next, they make their way to the cliff-top concealed entrance. While the apes find books that show humans as once-dominant, Mae finds her book, which contains a decode key.
Proximus confronts them as they leave and threatens to kill Soona, but Mae shoots and kills the ape that is holding Soona.
