Money Heist, a Spanish heist crime drama television series developed by Álex Pina, is also known as La casa de papel, [la ˈkasa ̰e paˈpel], lit. ‘The House of Paper‘. Based on Charles Addams‘ character Wednesday Addams, Wednesday is an American supernatural comedic horror television series that follows a coming-of-age story. The film, which was co-written by Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, stars Jenna Ortega as the lead role. Other supporting cast members include Christina Ricci, Moosa Mostafa, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Naomi J. Ogawa, and Gwendoline Christie. Tim Burton, who also acts as executive producer, directed four of the eight episodes of the first season. Wednesday Addams is the main character, and she tries to figure out a murder mystery at her new school.

Burton was involved in a canceled stop-motion animated The Addams Family movie and had previously been invited to direct the 1991 movie. He was reportedly directing a TV show in October 2020, and Netflix eventually ordered the show as a series. In part, Ortega was chosen to reflect the character’s Latina background. Burton requested Ricci, who had portrayed the title role in the 1991 movie and its 1993 follow-up Addams Family Values, to appear in a supporting capacity in the series. In Romania, filming was conducted from September 2021 to March 2022.

Wednesday debuted on November 16, 2022, and on November 23, it was made available on Netflix. Reviewers gave the movie mostly favorable reviews, praising Ortega’s performance. It surged to the position of second most watched English-language Netflix series in just three weeks after its debut. Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy for Ortega were the two Golden Globe nominations it received. Along with being nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, it also took home four Primetime Emmy Awards. A second season of the show was ordered in January 2023.

6. Ozark

Produced by MRC Television and Aggregate Films, Ozark is an American crime drama television series developed by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams for Netflix. As Marty and Wendy Byrde, a married couple who relocate their family to the Lake of the Ozarks in order to continue their employment laundering money for a Mexican drug cartel, Jason Bateman and Laura Linney play the series’ main characters. In addition, Bateman produces the show as executive producer and director.

July 21, 2017 marked the release of the first season; August 31, 2018 marked the release of the second; and March 27, 2020 marked the release of the third. Each of the first three seasons has ten episodes. The show was picked up for a fourth and final season in June 2020. The season will include 14 episodes, published in two parts: the first on January 21, 2022, and the second on April 29, 2022.

Throughout its run, Ozark garnered favorable reviews from critics who praised its tone, directing, production values, and performances—especially those of Bateman, Linney, and Julia Garner. Hwang Dong-hyuk is the creator of the South Korean television series Squid Game (Korean: 오징어 게임). It is available on Netflix. Kim Joo-ryoung, Anupam Tripathi, O Yeong-su, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, HoYeon Jung, Lee Jung-jae, and Heo Sung-tae are among the cast members.

The show centers on a covert competition in which 456 participants—all of whom are severely impoverished—risk their lives to compete in a series of lethal kid’s games in an attempt to win a ₩45.6 billion reward. The title of the series is derived from a Korean kid’s game of the same name. Hwang developed the concept in response to his personal financial hardships, the class divide in South Korea, and capitalism. Hwang penned the story in 2009, but he was unable to find a production firm to finance it. It wasn’t until 2019 that Netflix showed interest in the idea as part of an effort to increase the amount of international programming it offered.

Official announcements of a second season and Squid Game: The Challenge, a reality competition series, were made in June 2022. The second season’s filming started in July 2023 and is scheduled to premiere in 2024.

8. The Crown

Created and primarily written by Peter Morgan, The Crown is a historical drama television series produced by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television for Netflix. It centers on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen (2006), a film by Morgan, and The Audience (2013), a stage play that focuses on Elizabeth, served as the inspiration for the series.

The six seasons of the show span nearly six decades, starting just before Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten’s 1947 nuptials and concluding with Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ 2005 nuptials. Doug Miro, Carlo Bernard, and Chris Brancato are the creators and producers of the American criminal drama television series Narcos. September 1, 2017 marked the start of season 3, but on July 18, 2018, the show’s creators declared that season 4 would instead begin as the first season of a brand-new Netflix original series called Narcos: Mexico. Known by several names such as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (/ˈdɑ˧mər/; May 21, 1960 – November 28, 1994) was an American serial killer and sexual offender who murdered and mutilated seventeen men between 1978 and 1991. Necrophilia, cannibalism, and the permanent retention of body parts—usually all or part of the skeleton—were prevalent in many of his subsequent crimes.

Dahmer was diagnosed with psychotic disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and borderline personality disorder (BPD), yet during his trial, it was determined that he was legally sane. On February 17, 1992, he was sentenced to fifteen terms of life imprisonment after it was found that he had committed fifteen of the sixteen homicides in Wisconsin. Dahmer was later given a sixteenth life sentence for a 1978 homicide that he had committed in Ohio.

Christopher Scarver, a fellow prisoner at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin, beat Dahmer to death on November 28, 1994.
