1. Dune: Part Two

Denis Villeneuve, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaihts, is the director of the 2024 American epic science fiction space opera film Dune: Part Two. The follow-up to Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel Dune, Dune (2021) is a two-part adaptation that centers on Paul Atreides’s alliance with the Fremen people of the desert planet Arrakis in their struggle against House Harkonnen. Along with Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux joining the ensemble cast, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem reprise their roles from the first movie.

2. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Adam Wingard is the director of the next American monster movie Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. It is the fifth installment in the MonsterVerse and the follow-up to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), produced by Legendary Pictures and released by Warner Bros. Pictures. In addition, it is the thirteenth movie in the King Kong series, the 38th in the Godzilla series, and the sixth Godzilla movie to be entirely produced by an American motion picture company. Starring in the movie with Rebecca Hall are Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, Kaylee Hottle, Brian Tyree Henry, and Dan Stevens. Hall, Henry, and Hottle all play the same parts as in the first movie. In the movie, a threat that has not yet been identified must be faced by Godzilla and Kong in order to save the Hollow Earth and its surface.

Godzilla vs. Kong’s box office and streaming success during the COVID-19 epidemic led Legendary to declare in March 2022 that they will be filming a sequel later that year. It was revealed in May 2022 that Stevens had been selected as the main actor and that Wingard would resume directing. In Gold Coast, Queensland, filming got underway in July 2022 and ended in November of the same year.

International release dates for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire are March 27, 2024, and March 29 in the US.

3. Monkey Man

Dev Patel is directing his first feature-length action thriller, Monkey Man, which he also wrote the screenplay for with Paul Angunawela and John Collee. Starring in the movie are Patel, Makarand Deshpande, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher, Pitobash, Sobhita Dhulipala, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Vipin Sharma.

4. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

The planned American supernatural comedy Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is directed by Gil Kenan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jason Reitman. It is the fifth movie in the Ghostbusters franchise and the follow-up to Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021). Along with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, William Atherton, and Kumail Nanjiani reprising their roles from the previous films, the film stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim in their Afterlife cameos. In the movie, the seasoned Ghostbusters must team up with their new recruits to save the planet in New York City from a formidable, terrifying foe, years after preventing a dimensional crossrip in Summerville, Oklahoma.

Sony Pictures announced the sequel in April 2022, with Reitman returning as director, in response to Afterlife’s success. Later that December, Kenan succeeded Reitman as director, with the remaining actors reprising their parts. In March 2023, Oswalt, Nanjiani, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind were confirmed as new cast members. Principal photography started that same month and ended in June. It is the first Ghostbusters movie to be released after Ivan Reitman passed away. Reitman is credited as a producer posthumously, and the movie honors his memory and marks Ghostbusters’ 40th anniversary (1984).

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is slated to have its global debut on March 14, 2024, in New York City. Columbia Pictures, under Sony Pictures Releasing, will then release the film in the United States on March 22, 2024.

5. Kung Fu Panda 4

DreamWorks Animation is the producer of the upcoming animated martial arts comedy Kung Fu Panda 4, which is released by Universal Pictures. It is the follow-up to Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016) and the fourth entry in the Kung Fu Panda series. Mike Mitchell is the film’s director, while Stephanie Ma Stine is its co-director. Awkwafina, Viola Davis, and Ke Huy Quan join the cast as new characters, whilst Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, and Ian McShane reprise their roles from the previous movies. In the movie, “The Chameleon” (Davis), a new enemy with the power to bring evil spirits back to life, confronts Po (Black) as he searches for and trains the next Dragon Warrior.

Before the third Kung Fu Panda movie came released in January 2016, questions were directed towards directors Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni. Nelson responded to those inquiries in August 2018 and said she was interested to directing a fourth Kung Fu Panda movie. In August 2022, DreamWorks formally revealed that by April 2023, Mitchell, Ma Stine, and Rebecca Huntley will be attached as director, co-director, and producer, respectively, for the fourth movie. After Awkwafina’s casting in May 2023, the majority of the main voice cast was revealed in December of the same year.

March 8, 2024, is when Kung Fu Panda 4 is expected to open in theaters around the country.
