Abhinay Deo is the director of the 2024 Indian Hindi-language thriller Savi, which is Vishesh Films and T-Series Films produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar. The film, which is a contemporary version of the story of Savitri and Satyavan, stars Anil Kapoor, Divya Khossla, and Harshvardhan Rane. The movie is slated to be released on May 31, 2024.

The protagonist of this jailbreak thriller is Savi, a happy homemaker in Liverpool who resides with her husband, Nakul Sachdev, a worker at a construction company. Savi is positive that Nakul (Harshvardhan Rane) is innocent after he is jailed after being falsely accused of killing his employer. Determined to set him free, she comes up with a daring escape strategy. She enlists the aid of writer and ex-convict Joydeep Paul (Anil Kapoor), who provides her with intricate disguises to assist her carry out the plot. The Liverpool police find clues at Savi’s house while planning Nakul’s audacious escape, which sets off a furious and unrelenting pursuit.

“Savi” has the makings of an interesting thriller, but its plot is overdone and unoriginal. On paper, the story may have appeared interesting, but the way it is portrayed in the movies is uninteresting. The movie seems to be on the verge of reaching its full potential, but falls short. The script occasionally succeeds in keeping the audience interested, but there are a few gaps that make one question what became to Abhinay Deo, the director of the fantastic film “Delhi Belly.” “Savi” may have been a noteworthy addition to the jailbreak genre if the storyline and acting had been given greater attention.

As she takes on the difficult part of Savi, Divya Khosla Kumar shows off her dedication to the job. She stays the movie’s major focus, even if it would have been nice to have her display a wider variety of emotions. While playing Nakul, Harshvardhan Rane gives a passable performance; nonetheless, the mediocre screenplay prevents him from showcasing his full potential. Anil Kapoor, whose appearance is one of its highlights, redeems the movie, nevertheless. Every time he appears on film, he adds a certain vibrancy and happiness.

Bollywood has not done much research on the jailbreak subject, but Hollywood has done a great job covering it, yielding iconic movies like “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Escape from Alcatraz,” and “Midnight Express.” ‘Savi’ has a tremendous chance to advance this genre, but it doesn’t quite live up to the expectations. The actual jailbreak scene lacks the anticipated adrenaline boost and is more “tricky” than “daring.” The thriller has just the perfect amount of humor thanks to Anil Kapoor’s clever language. Even while “Savi” tries hard to give something fresh in this genre, it eventually falls short of the mark.

After collaborating with actor Anil Kapoor on the television series 24, director Abhinay Deo chose to cast him in the movie. The movie was secretly shot in London.
