In June 2024, Amazon Prime Video will launch an amazing slate of original series, film premieres, and special events. Highlights include an alternate history drama, a popular series returning for a fourth season, and a wide range of films from romantic comedies to psychological thrillers. A historical fantasy series that debuts at the end of the month, an action-comedy about surviving a coup in a fictional country, and a portrayal of the 2020 GameStop stock event are among the notable premieres.

1. The Boys

Eric Kripke is the creator of the American satirical superhero television series The Boys, which is available on Amazon Prime Video. It is based on the comic book of the same name written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, and it follows the vigilante team of the same name as they battle people with superpowers who misuse them. Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, and Nathan Mitchell are among the ensemble cast members of the television series.

On July 26, 2019, The Boys debuted their first season, consisting of eight episodes. On September 4, 2020, the second season debuted, and on June 3, 2022, the third season did the same. The show was given a fourth season renewal in June 2022, with a premiere date of June 13, 2024. The fifth season of the show was renewed in May 2024. Within a common world, the animated anthology series Diabolical debuted in March 2022, the second live-action television series Gen V debuted in September 2023, and the spin-off online series Seven on 7 debuted in July 2021. The script, plot, comedy, effects, and cast performances have all been praised for the series since its premiere, especially Urban and Starr’s roles as Homelander and Billy Butcher, respectively. Eight Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2021, have the series nominated.

2. My Lady Jane

Jordan Peters, Emily Bader, and Edward Bluemel feature in the forthcoming British television series My Lady Jane, which is produced for Amazon Prime Video. The television show, which is produced by MacDonald & Parkes, is adapted by Gemma Burgess from a series of novels by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows that offered a historical retelling of Lady Jane Grey’s life. The series started with My Lady Jane in 2016.

The historical young adult novels by Jodi Meadows, Cynthia Hand, and Brodi Ashton served as the basis for the television series. The series is being produced by Parkes & MacDonald, a production firm. Jamie Babbit is directing the pilot and executive producing, while Sarah Bradshaw and Laurie MacDonald are executive producing. Gemma Burgess and Meredith Glynn are co-showrunners and executive producers. For the first season of the show, eight episodes were commissioned. It was revealed in November 2022 that Jim Broadbent, Rob Brydon, Dominic Cooper, and Anna Chancellor will all play supporting parts as aristocrats.

3. The Tudors

Michael Hirst is the creator and writer of the historical fiction television series The Tudors, which is produced for the premium cable television network Showtime in the United States and is predominantly set in 16th-century England. Producers from America, Britain, and Canada worked together to create the series, which was primarily shot in Ireland. Though named after the whole Tudor dynasty, it is mostly centered on King Henry VIII’s reign.

Filming for the show took place in Ireland, and Peace Arch Entertainment produced it for Showtime in collaboration with Reveille Productions, Working Title Television, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Prior to their official Showtime launch, the first two episodes were available for viewing on DirecTV, Time Warner Cable OnDemand, Netflix, Verizon FiOS On Demand, Internet Movie Database, and the series website. On April 1, 2007, The Tudors debuted, earning the greatest ratings for Showtime in three years. The BBC announced in April 2007 that it had obtained exclusive broadcast rights for the series in the United Kingdom, and on October 5, 2007, the show aired after being renewed for a second season. The show debuted on October 2, 2007, on the CBC.

4. LEGO Ninjago

The Lego Group is the producer of the Danish-Canadian computer-animated television series Ninjago (which was formerly known as Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu until 2019). It was made in tandem with the Lego Ninjago construction toy line, which is based on the show’s characters and plot. It narrates the tale of six adolescent ninjas and their struggles against evil powers within the made-up realm of Ninjago. Two Danish film producers named Michael Hegner and Tommy Andreasen devised the series. Up to the ninth season, Dan and Kevin Hageman wrote the plot; Bragi Schut took over as lead writer. Numerous voice actors from the ensemble cast of the show have recurring parts in the series.

Having been in continuous production for more than a decade, the series marked its tenth anniversary in January of 2021. Two pilot episodes aired in January 2011, and then two 13-episode seasons of the show ran from December 2011 to November 2012. The second season was supposed to be the initial conclusion, and both the Lego theme and the television show had a three-year runtime. Nevertheless, the show’s popularity and product line allowed it to go on, and as of May 2021, fourteen seasons and two specials have been issued. For its first 10 seasons, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu was produced in Copenhagen, Denmark, by Wil Film ApS.

5. A League of Their Own

Co-creators of the American comedy-drama television series A League of Their Own are Will Graham and co-star Abbi Jacobson. It is a fresh cast of characters and a retelling of the 1992 movie of the same name, which tells the tale of the creation of a women’s professional baseball team during World War II. Starring with her are Priscilla Delgado, Melanie Field, Chanté Adams, D’Arcy Carden, Roberta Colindrez, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Kelly McCormack, and Molly Ephraim. On August 12, 2022, the first eight episodes of the series aired. The show was given a four-episode final season renewal in March 2023, however Amazon revealed in August 2023 that the second season will not go forward because of the WGA strike’s delays.

The story of the 1943 television series centers on the founding of the Rockford Peaches, a female baseball club in the fledgling All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Carson Shaw leaves her small town life to pursue her ambition of being a professional baseball player while her husband is serving overseas in combat. Maxine Chapman is a lady of African American descent who is so passionate about baseball that she struggles to even be considered for any baseball club and cannot even persuade anyone to let her try out.

The ruler, the journalist, and her bodyguard flee into the bush following the military coup, where they must battle to survive. Is it certain that AI did not create this film?

7. Mob Land

Do you recall John Travolta? Sadly, the top comeback star of the 1990s and early 2000s has followed in the footsteps of several previous A-list celebrities by accepting cheques as fast as he can cash them. Now let’s go to 2023 and check out Mob Land, where he plays a small-town sheriff deep in Louisiana. Our local hero becomes caught up in a bloody conflict between the New Orleans mafia and desperate criminals when several guys decide to loot a pill factory. At least it’s not Gotti, though.

When desperate family man Shelby robs a pill mill with his reckless brother-in-law, Trey, in a small town deep in Dixie struggling with the ravages of addiction, the seemingly easy score takes a violent turn, alerting the New Orleans mafia’s revenge-seeking enforcer, who threatens Shelby’s wife and daughter. The local sheriff tries to keep things peaceful.

8. The Old Oak

The Old Oak is a drama film from 2023 that was written and directed by Paul Laverty and Ken Loach. Belgium, France, and the United Kingdom collaborated in the production.

Following its international debut at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where it was vying for the Palme d’Or, StudioCanal released the movie in the UK on September 29, 2023. The movie received a nomination for the 77th British Academy Film Awards in the Outstanding British Movie category.
